The FibKey BFP-1 Bare Fiber Lensing System is designed to polish bare optical fibers into various desired end shapes, including flat ends, bevels, tapers at diverse angles (both large and small included-angle tapers), and chisel (screwdriver) tips.

  • Z-Axis Intelligent Motion System: Powered by a stepper motor and controlled by an embedded, programmable microchip-based PCB, this system automates precise Z-axis movements. A rotary knob is also included for manual operations, offering versatility.
  • Automated Bare-Fiber Polishing: Developed through collaboration between skilled programmers and experienced polishing technicians, this system automates the entire bare fiber polishing process, ensuring efficiency and precision. The MCU-controlled micro-positioning mechanism guarantees excellent repeatability in polishing.

This ensures optimal flatness for multifiber applications, such as fiber arrays, ribbon fibers, or other larger substrates.
  • Cost-Effective Polishing: The system supports the use of 5-inch lapping films, reducing operational costs and increasing overall efficiency.
  • Standard Configuration: The FibKey BFP-1 is equipped with a fiber module assembly suitable for fibers ranging from 80µm to 700µm in diameter, ideal for polishing into flat ends or bevels. Various sizes of ferrules, such as 125µm, 140µm, 400µm, and 600µm, can be chosen to meet diverse polishing requirements.
